- Guidance Services: EVCFE provides counselling and other related supports including further educational advice/ choices. These services are provided at set times as agreed between the student and relevant staff member.
- Reasonable accommodation: This may include the provision of one or more of the following
- Relevant assistive technology, equipment and/ software
- Sign language usage
- Rest periods
- Scribes and/ readers
- Practical assistants
Adopted presentation of assignment briefs, assignment answer formulations and examination papers
Compassionate Consideration: This involves students who due to exceptional personal circumstances have performed below par in any assessment undertaken or who was unable to complete any such assessment being allowed to at a later date. EVC makes its decision based on 4 criteria:
- The students previous academic/ personal record
- The character of the assessment to be undertaken
- The feasibility of such assessment being undertaken
- The nature of the extenuating circumstances, including supporting documentation/ medical certification
- EVCFE may consider the following instances as suitable for affording compassionate consideration
- Death of a close family member or personal friend
- Serious illness of an immediate family member
- Extenuating physical injury/ profound emotional trauma having occurred within one month of a particular assessment
- A physical incapacity/ condition of a chronic nature or otherwise causing a student’s disablement
- A temporary mental incapacity/ condition
- FE students can apply for compassionate consideration using the following procedure
- Completion of relevant compassionate consideration form with supporting documentation
- Application to Deputy Principal of EVCFE in association with relevant staff member/ tutor
- Decision made within 5 days of receipt of the application
